Leadership Lab

One of the best ways to increase your impact on the your product, team, company, and career is to step beyond the role of individual contributor and into the realm of leadership. Leadership isn't something that someone bestows upon you; it is something that you do. There are many managers who are not leaders, and many leaders who are not managers. If you feel the call to leadership, but are not sure how to begin, then this workshop is for you.

We will start by examining the question: "What are the most effective ways for a software developer to lead?" As a group, we will generate and rank the techniques, behaviors, and skills that are most effect in leading within the context of software development.

Next, we will dive in and find ways to apply these concepts to your current situation. What are the opportunities that you are being presented with right now? What key problems face you and your team? What obstacles keep you from stepping into a leadership role? Bring these to the workshop and we will collaborate to find the leadership opportunities hidden in your current situation. Even better, we will create action plans that you can take back to work with you.
